Protests Force Baltimore Orioles to Play Baseball in Empty Stadium

  • The Baltimore Orioles beat the Chicago White Sox 4-2 at home on Tuesday, but the stadium was eerily silent. In a first for Major League Baseball, the game being played was closed to the public. Officials said the ongoing protests in the streets of Baltimore made the situation unsafe for fans to some to Camden Yards.

    Since the death of Freddie Grey while in police custody, protests and some riots have engulfed Baltimore. The city is currently under a mandatory curfew, which among other things means there will be no night games for the Orioles.
