Watch Late Night Hosts Tear Into Trump Over His Birther Lies

Donald Trump has a track record of being a liar. At a called press conference early this week, he added to it.

  • Late last week, Donald Trump called for a press conference to discuss an important announcement regarding the birther issue. What followed was anything but that. (It was mostly an ad for his new hotel.) This is just the latest controversy for Trump — remember his Russian TV appearance?

Arriving more than an hour late for the press conference, Trump first spoke about his new hotel in Washington DC, before calling up veterans to discuss how much of a hero he is. He then got to the most important moment of the day, where he stated the obvious. His full remarks regarding Obama:

“Hillary Clinton, and her campaign of 2008, started the birther movement. I finished it. I finished it. You know what I mean. President Barack Obama was born in the United States, period.”

Trump starts the remark with a lie – even Fox News, which you can watch in the Samantha Bee video – stated as such. Then he continues with his usual insanity ("I finished it"), and then states the obvious, which only he and his supporters have been denying. It’s taking every fiber of my being not to put any of this in all caps.

Needless to say, the late night hosts (other than goofy nonsense-slingers like Corden and noted Trump-humanizer Fallon) felt the same way, and tore into Trump. Here's Seth Meyers' and Stephen Colbert's takes:

  • Neither Meyers nor Colbert were willing to take any of Trump’s bullsh*t, as the three hosts followed the same line of thinking. But this is nothing new, as Politico and Politifact have had their hands full dealing with all of the lies Donald Trump has told this election.

Now if you’ll excuse me, I need to watch some baby animal videos to calm down.

What do you think? Are you as angered by Trump’s lies (and general existence) as the late night hosts? Let us know in the comments or @WhatsTrending on Twitter.
