That Kendall Jenner Pepsi Ad Sucked

The word tone-deaf is thrown around a lot these days...

  • It's amazing that something can unite both sides in this bitter political divide, yet amazingly the unbelievably tasteless Kendall Jenner Pepsi ad has done just that. The ad showcases Kendall Jenner getting ready for a fashion shoot as protests — ones specifically mirroring The Million Woman March and Black Lives Matter — happen outside. We see protesters drinking Pepsi, thinking their idealistic thoughts over a can of Pepsi, and just having the time of their life as a Pepsi can slyly peeks into the shot. Already pretty bad. But it gets worse.

The commercial ends with Kendall Jenner walking through the protests, taking a can of Pepsi and giving it to a cop in a shot mirroring the now legendary photo of a fearless black woman walking up to fully armored police during a black lives matter protest.

  • What's insane is that the commercial managed to upset everyone. People on the left were rightfully upset at this tasteless dystopian appropriation, and people on the right were upset that— Jenner was in a protest? Oh, whatever.

Twitter of course has the good jokes to make the pain feel lighter.

  • What do you think of the ad though? Is it very bad, or very very bad? Or maybe very very very bad? Let us know in the comments or on Twitter at @WhatsTrending.

  • UPDATE: Pepsi has apologized for the commercial
