Yosemite national park was the site of a rare optical illusion, where a waterfall appears to turn to lava in mid-day. The sun shines on the Horsetail Fall so precisely that it illuminates the cascading water in a shimmering orange and yellow. The perennial illusion happens every year around a sunset in mid-February, winter-weather permitting. Below is a video of the Fall:
