The insane sport of wingsuit flight will get a handsome new documentary in 2012. Birdmen: The Original Dream of Flight looks at the “past, present, and possible future” of the burgeoning extreme sport where adrenaline junkies jump off a cliff, outfitted with a web-like suit that allows them to coast near craggy maintain ridges at near an astonishing speed of 150 mph. The death rate of wingsuit flying, as a discussed in the brief trailer, is disturbingly high enough to make this film as emotionally cringing as it is beautiful. Watch the trailer below:
