Harvard Study Made for the Internet: Pot Legalization Could Save Billions

  • This study couldn't be more perfect for the Internet if it was presented by kittens and signed by Justin Bieber. Harvard Economist Jeffrey Miron has sparked a petition by 300 economists, calling attention to his findings that say the legalization of Marijuana could save the United States $7.7 billion annually from enforcement costs, and another $6 billion in tax revenue.

    "At a minimum, this debate will force advocates of current policy to show that prohibition has benefits sufficient to justify the cost to taxpayers, foregone tax revenues, and numerous ancillary consequences that result from marijuana prohibition," states the petition.

    However, President Obama, famously, is quite aware of the concern and has given an answer that the Internet was none to pleased with: he does not think legalization is good policy to help the economy:
