Suicide Squad had a — mixed reaction — to put it mildly ( trailer was good though). However one part of the film that was a breakout hit was Margot Robbie's performance as the ever strange and ever chaotic Harleen Quinzel— better known to the general public as Harley Quinn, and she is all set to return in Gotham City Sirens, a movie uniting the worst of Batman's female villains.
For those not in the know, Harley Quinn is an villain turned occasional hero (an anti villain?) created by Paul Dini and Bruce Timm for Batman: The Animated Series in the early 90's, and since then she has taken on a life of her own as a popularity juggernaut, even becoming the most popular Halloween costume of 2016 following her appearance in Suicide Squad.
David Ayer, who directed the first Suicide Squad has returned to direct, which is a controversial choice given how unbeloved his original film was. However, we here are optimistic!
The Gotham City Sirens, as shown in comics, and animation-- are a super villain team usually made up of Harley Quinn, Poison Ivy and Catwoman, and can often be seen fighting the likes of Batgirl. Who knows what this film will end up being, but if you want a taste to keep you satiated, check out an episode of the original animated web-series here, and a clip of Margot Robbie from the original Suicide Squad film below.
