Capital Cities: From Craiglist to Katy Perry

We joined Capital Cities backstage at Bonnaroo to chat about their humble musical beginnings, signature dance moves and opening up for Katy Perry on her upcoming Prismatic world tour!

The band got their start on Craigslist after Sebu Simonian posted an ad looking for someone to collab with and got one response back and it was Ryan Merchant.

Their songs have a lot of comedy to them while still getting their vibe across.

“We infuse a lot of tongue and cheek elements into our music and also in our live show because I think when you put across a vibe that you don’t take yourself too seriously, it allows the audience to relax and have a better time,” Merchant told us. “We also try to be serious as far as the musicality and the songwriting we do.”
