UA Flight 1463 headed to John Wayne Airport, Orange County (SNA) from Chicago O’Hare International Airport (ORD) had to be diverted to Wichita Dwight D. Eisenhower National Airport (ICT), when an emergency evacuation slide had deployed mid-flight. Due to the loss of cabin pressure, the plane had dropped to 11,000 ft. from its initial 38,000 feet within ten minutes.

Slides are no doubt fun, so is a game of Chutes and Ladders, but neither are particularly amusing when onboard a plane accelerating at a speed of over 500mph. Fortunately, no injuries have been reported. Upon landing, passengers were put up at a neighboring hotel for the night and flew out Monday morning.

A maintenance team has begun inspection.
