Brandon Routh, best known for starring in Bryan Singer’s “Superman Returns,” playing the Man of Steel, has joined the cast of CW’s superhero drama, “Arrow,” for season 3.

His contract is said to span for a total of 14 episodes, where he’ll be playing a main recurring guest star, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

His character, Ray Palmer, best known as the Silver Age version of The Atom, will play a major role in the lives of both Oliver Queen (Stephen Amell) and Felicity Smoak (Emily Bett Rickards). The latter is also rumored to be a potential love interest.

Palmer is a scientist, inventor, as well as the new owner of Queen Consolidated. His alter-ego, The Atom, possesses the power to alter his size, shrinking down to a subatomic level, while retaining his natural strength.

“Arrow” will be returning Wednesday, Oct. 8, at 8 p.m. ET.
