When Pakistani education rights activist, Malala Yousafzai, 17, met with the parents of the Nigerian schoolgirls kidnapped by militant group Boko Haram yesterday, she knew immediately what she wanted for her seventeenth birthday.

“My birthday wish this year is…bring back our girls now, and alive,”
    Yousafzai tells ABC News.

According to the news outlet, the meeting was a heartwrenching one and when Yousafzai saw the parents crying, she couldn’t help but cry herself.

Yousafzai, who will be meeting with Nigerian President Goodluck Jonathan today, hopes that her voice will have an impact on the President.

Happy Belated Birthday, Malala. We’re all right behind you.
