The video, begins as every Bollywood music video does: Bright colors, extravagant sets, women and men bustling about preparing for a wedding.
With over 1.5 million views on YouTube, this video is the United Nation’s most viewed post, according to NBC.
“Today, Sir is coming with his special friend,” one man says on the phone in the video. When Sir and his special friend arrive, audiences see a young man on the arm of Sir. The family stands open-mouthed in shock, reflecting the present climate of India in regards to gay rights.
The video continues to reflect the UN’s view on the situation in India, as Bollywood star Celina Jaitly chides a gaping grandmother.
“It’s a new look, it’s a new attitude,” the lyrics go. “You might wonder where the old way of living is gone. But who is worried about who likes what, as long as in the world of love two people want to be with each other.”
As with many Bollywood productions, the music video ends on a happy note. The family is brought together, reconciling their differences in favor of laughing, singing, and dancing together: a true happily-ever-after for the married couple and a prime example of what the UN hopes to see established in countries in the future.
