At the end of his show on Monday, Conan O’Brien delivered the tragic news on the passing of Robin Williams to his live studio audience and to the viewers at home finding out for the first time.

The late-night comedian was shocked, horrified and upset and felt like he needed to acknowledge the loss.

Will Arnett, who was a guest on Monday’s show, also paid tribute to the legendary star. “As funny as he was, he was truly one of the all-time greats,” Arnett said. “He was even better as a person, even more fantastic. Just the loveliest, sweetest, kindest guys that I’ve ever worked with. He was a soft, warm and emotionally sweet guy and it’s a major major loss for everybody.”

Conan’s sidekick, Andy Richter chimed in. “He was an amazingly kind and generous person and it’s got to be a terrible time for his family and our thoughts go out to them.”

Conan wrapped up the show by saying, “we’re thinking about Robin tonight.”
