When I was 13 or 14, my friends and I would set up a camera (with an actual tape in it) by my bedroom door, and film ourselves doing funny characters or dancing in front of it. That same concept is used for Beyonce’s “7/11” video, except four snotty teenagers were replaced with one Beyonce, and she’s in her underwear a lot. That probably makes a huge difference.
“7/11” is one of two unreleased tracks from Beyonce: Platinum Edition, the reissue of her most recent full-length, which also includes four remixes, 10 live performances, and a couple of photo books.
In three days, “7/11” has 20 million views.
