It’s finally here! A first 88 second teaser trailer for the seventh edition of the long-running “Star Wars” franchise has arrived, and with it, we get our first look at how director JJ Abrams (“Felicity”! And also other things…) is rebooting the series. The new clip doesn’t reveal much of the plot, or how classic characters like Luke, Han and Chewie are faring, but it does give us a look at new cast member Daisy Ridley riding a newfangled landspeeder AND new cast member John Boyega in what appears to be a Stormtrooper outfit. (Yes, even 30 years after “Return of the Jedi,” Stormtroopers continue to menace the galaxy.)
We also get shots of X-Wings flying into battle, a rare three-pronged red light saber, some voice-over about how the light and dark sides of the Force are returning PLUS a new look at an old classic… The Millennium Falcon taking on some TIE Fighters.

The new film hits theaters December 18th of next year. But if you can’t wait that long, 30 select theaters will be playing this trailer throughout the rest of the holiday weekend.
