Remember that scene in the first “Jurassic Park,” where that annoying kid tells Dr. Grant that velociraptors look like turkeys and aren’t scary, and then Grant – the HERO of the movie – terrifies him with an enormous, sharp raptor talon that he keeps on his person, probably for situations just like this one?

No? That movie came out over 20 years ago and you’re 8 years old, because this is the Internet? Well, just watch the video.

It seems that the Internet now believes that this kid – played in the original film by young actor Whit Hertford – may have grown up to be “Jurassic World” protagonist Owen Grady, played by charming meta-human Chris Pratt.

What is this actually based on? Not all that much, to be honest.

But it is worth noting that Hertford, at 36, is only one year older than Pratt. Plus, in the original scene, Dr. Grant tells the kid (identified only as “Volunteer Boy” in the credits) that he should show raptors a little respect. In the above trailer for “Jurassic World,” Owen talks about how much he respects raptors.

Plus they’re both dudes… and they’re both in movies in the “Jurassic Park” franchise. WHAT MORE EVIDENCE DO YOU NEED?

After Dan Harmon voiced the theory on his popular “Harmontown” podcast (he may or may not have thought it up himself), the idea caught on. In fact, there’s so much interest out there about whether or not “Volunteer Boy” grew up to be Owen Grady, Slashfilm asked “Jurassic World” director Colin Trevorrow for his opinion. (He doesn’t give it, as he doesn’t want to shut down the speculation.)

It’s even prompted a response on Twitter from actor Whit Hertford himself.

That’s right, Hollywood. You can recast James Bond all you like, but DON’T GO NEAR VOLUNTEER BOY. Some things are sacred.
