  • The memorable music of James Horner is on everyone’s mind today as people mourn the Oscar-winning composer.

Horner, known for his moving soundtracks on films like “Titanic,” “Braveheart” and “Field of Dreams,” has died in a plane crash at age 61.

For his work on “Titanic” directed by James Cameron, Horner won the Oscar for original dramatic score and also for original song, shared with lyricist Will Jennings, for “My Heart Will Go On.”

“We have lost an amazing person with a huge heart and unbelievable talent,” his assistant Sylvia Patrycja wrote on Facebook on Monday. “He died doing what he loved. Thank you for all your support and love and see you down the road.”

A lot of millenials grew up listening to Horner’s music in some of the biggest films of the 80s and 90s, so the melodies he wrote are evoking a lot of memories today. A quick search through YouTube shows just how influential he was.
