The internet mourns a YouTube legend, as Tillman the skateboarding bulldog dies at age 10 from a heart muscle disease.

Owner Ron Davis posted the news on Tillman’s Facebook page last night. He wrote: “My best bud Tillman passed away last night. We shared so many memories skating, surfing and hanging out together. No words can truly describe how much he’ll be missed. Thanks for all the good times, Tilly.”

Tillman rose to fame in the 2007 video “Skateboarding Dog.” He was a little over a year old at the time. The video went viral and was seen by a mainstream audience that summer when it appeared in an iPhone commercial.

In 2009, Tillman broke the Guinness World Record for fastest 100m on a skateboard by a dog, in 19.68 seconds.

The last photo posted of Tillman was from last week – it shows Tillman “chillin with his buddies,” a cat and a butt-sniffing dog.

His Facebook page is now covered in condolence messages from humans and animals alike. Head over to Facebook.com/TillmanSkates to read them all.
