  • We love a good meme just as much as the next person, but it’s easy to forget that the people in those are just that…people. For one Taiwanese model, Heidi Yeh, memes aren’t just likes and shares, the viral trend may have ended her career.

Yeh had a booming model career with major international brands. She then booked a job for which she was photographed with a man and three children. The picture of the “family” was later photoshopped to distort the children’s faces and promote plastic surgery with the caption: “The only thing you’ll ever have to worry about is how to explain it to your kids.”

The photo spread like wildfire on the internet, inspiring fictitious stories about how Yeh had lied to her husband about having undergone plastic surgery and he only found out when he saw what their children looked like.

Yeh says that since the photo started making waves on the internet, she hasn’t been able to book jobs because people believe that she actually had cosmetic surgery.
