Thanks to the work of his fellow “Star Wars” fans, Daniel Fleetwood got his dying wish to see “The Force Awakens” early – and less than a week later he passed away at age 32.

Last week, thanks to the online campaign #ForceForDaniel, he was able to see an early cut of the film that will be released in theaters on December 18.

Daniel died of a form of cancer called Spindle cell sarcoma. He was given his terminal diagnosis this summer after doctors discovered the cancer had spread to 90% of his lungs.

His wife Ashley wrote on Facebook: “Daniel put up an amazing fight to the very end. He is now one with God and with the force. He passed in his sleep and in peace. He will always be my idol and my hero.”

Stars of the film, including John Boyega who plays Finn and Peter Mayhew who plays Chewbacca, tweeted their support for Daniel and praised the producers for letting him see the film. The #ForceForDaniel tag on Twitter is now full of farewell messages and words of support.

If you want to honor his memory, you can make a donation to the Cancer Research Institute to help find a cure.
