These days it seems like Adam Sandler is spending most of his time annoying people with his movies, so it’s nice to see him returning to a crowd-pleaser like “The Hanukkah Song” just in time for the holidays.
At a show in San Diego last week, Sandler premiered an updated version of his holiday classic, listing all the famous people who celebrate this important Jewish holiday. “So when you feel like the only kid in town without a Christmas tree,” he sang, “here’s the FOURTH list of people who are Jewish, just like Jesus, Olaf, Punky Brewster, Scott Rudin and me!”
This year’s list of Jewish and part-Jewish all-stars includes Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Marvel’s Stan Lee, “the two guys who founded Google,” Drake, Scarlett Johannson (“talk about a kosher crush!”), Idina Menzel aka Queen Elsa from “Frozen,” and Daniel Radcliffe of “Harry Potter” fame.
Unfortunately, convicted pedophile Jared from Subway also made the list – “but guess who is Jewish and can fix him: Loveline’s Dr. Drew!”
We’ve come a long way since this song first premiered on SNL’s “Weekend Update” in 1994.
