Steve Harvey Interviews Miss Colombia About That Miss Universe Fiasco

Miss Colombia Ariadna Gutierrez is probably a nicer person than you.

It’s the face-off we’ve all been waiting for (unless you already forgot about the Miss Universe pageant again) – host Steve Harvey sat down with Gutierrez, the woman he announced as the winner before realizing he’d fucked everything up and the real winner was Miss Philippines Pia Alonzo Wurtzbach. The Colombian beauty queen had to stand there and smile as the crown was taken off her head and placed on Wurtzbach’s in front of everybody.

A month later, Harvey wanted to see how she was doing. “How do you feel about the way… I handled the situation?” he said, probably searching for words other than “I fucked everything up.”

At first Gutierrez tried to be stern, saying, “You have to learn how to read cards. Because it was on the card.” But a moment later she laughed and let him off the hook: “You wanted me to win.”

She later explained that as Harvey made his cringe-worthy retraction, she was laughing because she thought he was making a joke. “You know, like Oprah. You’re Miss Universe! You’re Miss Universe! Everyone is Miss Universe!”
