The Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Edition isn’t exactly a bastion of feminism, but we are enjoying this gorgeous image featuring Ashley Graham – the first plus-sized model to grace their cover.

She’s actually one of three covers for this month, along with model Hailey Clauson and UFC fighter Ronda Rousey.
This is actually the first time the magazine has featured a plus size model on its cover. Sure, she’s still traditionally proportioned, but it’s a step in the right direction.
Graham told Entertainment Weekly that she was proud of succeeding despite constant pressure from her agents to lose weight:
“I had agents tell me, ‘You’ll never get on the cover of magazines. You’ll never be an editorial model.’ I had agents wave money in my face and say, ‘If you drop some pounds, you can have a lot more of this!’ And not even THAT was something that encouraged me to lose weight! The moment I realized I had to be healthy and happy in who I was, that’s when my career took off.”
She went on to say that she hoped her appearance on SI’s cover could help girls see that their curves are beautiful.
