  • Well, South Dakota now has this on its record forever – it is the first state to pass a bill making it illegal for transgender people to use public restrooms that match their gender identities.

And not just trans people, but trans children. Classy movie.

    The bill reads, in part:

”Every restroom, locker room, and shower room located in a public elementary or secondary school that is designated for student use and is accessible by multiple students at a time shall be designated for and used only by students of the same biological sex.”

Republican Sen. David Omdahl urged legislators to support the bill to “preserve the innocence of our young people,” because trans kids are just waiting for any opportunity to terrorize their classmates with their genitals, or some other ridiculous logic.

On a less personal note, many people are pointing out that the bigoted move would cost South Dakota millions of dollars in federal funding.

The ACLU has started a petition to the South Dakota governor to ask him not to sign the bill, if you’re interested in checking it out.
