Knife Found Buried at O.J. Simpson’s Old House

Can’t believe there’s a story more bizarre than Donald Trump talking about the size of his dick during a presidential debate, but here we are.

Two decades after the murder of Nicole Brown Simpson and Ron Goldman (but conveniently right as “The People v. O.J. Simpson: American Crime Story” is airing on FX) it’s being reported that a knife was found buried at O.J. Simpson’s old house – and the man who found it gave it to a police officer who decided to keep it as a souvenir.

The story originally came from TMZ this morning, but the L.A. Times has confirmed that police are investigating and testing the knife:

The knife was apparently turned over to a police officer a number of years ago by a construction worker who was helping to raze Simpson’s mansion on Rockingham Avenue, police said.

At a news conference at LAPD headquarters Friday morning, Capt. Andy Neiman said the officer was a traffic cop and was working on a movie set when he was given the knife.

Detectives learned of the knife’s existence last month, and are now investigating where it came from, according to Neiman, who cautioned that the investigation is still in its early stages.

Neiman told reporters it was unclear why the officer waited nearly two decades to hand over the knife.

“I don’t know why that didn’t happen or if that’s entirely accurate or if this whole story is possibly bogus from the get-go,” he said.

According to TMZ, the cop held onto the knife for years and eventually decided to frame it and put it on his wall. Because murder weapon decorations really bring your living room decor together, I guess? Gahh, that’s so morbid.

Supposedly the cop asked a friend at the LAPD to get the Departmental Record number of the murder case so he could engrave it in the frame, but his friend got angry and reported him to his superiors.

The timing of this story is so weird, many people on the internet are wondering if this is some kind of stunt – someone trying to get famous, or a twisted publicity stunt for the FX series, or even (GASP!) a media conspiracy.
