After several weeks of speculation, Sookie returning home!
Melissa McCarthy’s return has been confirmed, meaning we will be seeing our favorite chef back where she belongs (and not gallivanting across the world as a spy or an identity thief).

McCarthy made the announcement on Ellen, who was just as excited for her as the fans were! Back when the reboot was announced, McCarthy had lamented on Twitter that she had not been invited back on the show.
Entertainment Weekly, as part of their exclusive on the return of the Gilmore Girls, spoke with showrunner Amy Sherman-Palladino who clarified there were no hard feelings with McCarthy, stating:
“I’ve been told by her people for months, ‘Can’t happen. Can’t happen. Can’t happen. There’s nothing juicy or hidden here. It’s a matter of she’s one of the top working actresses in films today, and we are very proud of her.”
She also added Gilmore Girls was shooting until May 10th, and she would have the scene pre-lit and waiting for McCarthy to step in, if she could find the time to make it happen.
For fans all around, thankfully McCarthy has found the time!
