  • If you haven’t heard of The Avalanches, I can’t blame you. Their only album came out back in 2000, and was initially only released in Australia. But since then, their legend has only grown: Pitchfork called their album, Since I Left You, the tenth best album of the 2000s; Slant had it sixth,, and it has been featured in both 1001 Albums You Must Hear Before You Die and 100 Best Australian Albums (tenth).

Their recently announced upcoming album, Wildflower, is set for release on July 8th, 2016, worldwide. It’s been in production for over a decade, most of which, according to their website, has been spent clearing samples. On June 1st, they released their first single and accompanying video since 2000, and MAN is it insane. Here’s a short list of things you’ll see in the video:

    —Glowing Yellow Stuff

    —Sausage Neck Man

    —Old Ladies Doing Splits

    —Dwarf Cowboy

    —Fan Boats

    —Trombone Gun

    —Old Man Paintball

—A Man Barking Like a Dog

    —Chicken Hallucinations

    —Glowy-Eyed Tiger

    —Bathing in Cotton

    —Bubble Boy

Still not convinced you should check it out? How about I tell you it features guest verses from Danny Brown (you know, the guy who released not one but two of the best rap albums of the decade) AND MF Doom, who’s been tearing up hip-hop for over two decades?

If that video left you wanting more, be patient — more is coming soon. But for now, we’ll have to revisit their old stuff. Check out the video for stone cold classic single “Frontier Psychiatrist” below:
