  • Nintendo is finally, finally showing us more of the new Zelda game, and we couldn’t be more excited. The new trailer for the 2017 title has everything: a badass art style, a giant open world, cooking, magic, spears, rock monsters plural, voice acting?! (If YouTube comments on the video are any guide, the last point has become a source of much controversy in the Zelda fan community.)

The three-plus minute trailer is the first we’ve seen of the game, then-unnamed, since this quick teaser from 20-freaking-14. Since then, the game has faced numerous delays — so many, in fact, that its delays became the subject of this popular meme:

  • But now, the new Zelda has a name (Breath of the Wild), a release date (well, a release year), and a kickin’ rad trailer! So it’s definitely, for sure, actually going to come out, right? They couldn’t possibly KEEP breaking our hearts, could they? COULD THEY?! Don’t stop me from weeping, this is all I have.

Other details on Breath of the Wild are pretty scarce. All we know for sure is that it’s coming out on the Wii U and Nintendo’s upcoming system, codenamed the NX, and a few gameplay details. Kotaku has the complete list of what we know about the game, but to sum up: there appear to be more role-playing elements, like weapon and armor stats and durability; there’s more freedom of movement, including climbing; and there are more “survival” elements, like eating food to replenish health rather than cutting down grass to obtain hearts.
