Ed O’Neill Fails to Recognize Britney Spears

There are only so many names and faces the average person can remember, and that number goes down the older you get. Ed O’Neill, Modern Family’s JAAAAAAAAY, has been around the block for 70 years. He’s spent most of the last 30 as a Hollywood fixture, meeting agents, managers, producers, actors, writers, directors, and more.

Bear that in mind when you hear that he didn’t recognize pop icon Britney Spears. Here’s Britney’s tweet, in which you can see a rather unenthusiastic-looking Ed O’Neill giving her a one-armed hug:

Still a pretty cute picture nonetheless. Britney looks less like a legendary pop princess and more like a regular ol’ fangirl, and Ed looks like a guy who wants to get on his flight already. Listen to him tell the story on Ellen this week, where he appeared to promote Finding Dory:
