  • Weddings are a beautiful, sacred occasion — even the ones crashed by Taylor Swift. But the marriages that follow don’t always live up to the hype. Case in point: this woman’s marriage went so far south that she’s now selling the wedding dress on eBay to help pay for the divorce. She needs to hire a divorce lawyer to help her with the process.

Samantha Wragg is a 28-year-old woman from Chesterfield, UK. She wrote on her blog that her soon-to-be ex-husband cheated on her. After putting her wedding dress on eBay and getting “barely any views” for the first two weeks, she and her brother decided to “make it funny.” And make it funny they did.

The eBay listing, which expires soon, airs some dirty laundry — literally and figuratively. Wragg describes the condition as “Used — Great condition but needs dry cleaning before wearing to get rid of the stench of betrayal.” What’s really getting people’s attention, though, is the scathing description she and her brother wrote:

  • Here are some choice quotes:

“I didn’t have time to get it dry-cleaned myself before my cheating scumbag of a husband decided to call an end to our marriage.”

“Sorry that there are only two pictures but when I found out my husband was living with another woman, I pretty much burned/permanently deleted everything with his disgusting face on it!”

“If you want a dress that is full of bad memories and shattered hopes and dreams then this is the one for you!”

Harsh! Wragg insists on her blog that she was being tongue-in-cheek and that she “forgive[s] him,” but there’s a strong undercurrent of real bitterness there.

Whether Wragg is just joking or legitimately full of hate, the description seems to be working. As of this writing there are 75 bids and the bidding is at £65,900 (around $86,000). Whether all those bids are for real remains to be seen, but all this free publicity can’t have hurt. Best of luck on your divorce, Samantha!
