You Have to See ‘Monty Python and the Holy Grail’ Recut as a Drama

From the geniuses who brought you 8 Bit Cinema (including the classic Matrix episode), Homemade Trailers (like this one for Iron Man 3), and much, much more comes another hilarious recut trailer.

This time, the subject is the classic British comedy Monty Python and the Holy Grail, and the twist is reimagining the movie as an intense action drama. As someone who watched Holy Grail probably 80 times in middle school, I couldn’t be more pleased. (One year, my friends and I even dressed as the monks who hit themselves in the head with boards for Halloween.)

It’s pretty surprising that a movie this silly can be turned into a drama at all, but CineFix has some talented people. Good job, editor Bobby Burns and executive producer Dustin McLean!

Recut trailers have become something of a cottage industry on YouTube. There’s the classic recut of The Shining as a romantic comedy, Peter Gabriel included…

…the horror version of Mrs. Doubtfire…

…and, of course, the one that started it all, Brokeback to the Future.

As of this writing, the Monty Python recut only has a few thousand views. Whether it becomes the next classic in the genre remains to be seen. All I can say for now is that I loved it, and I hope you do too.
