America’s Sweethearts Michelle Obama and Ellen Take Over a CVS

The Michelle Obama charm offensive continues! Last time we checked in with the soon-to-be-former First Lady, she was crooning Stevie Wonder, Beyoncé, and Missy Elliott with James Corden on Carpool Karaoke. (Ellen DeGeneres has been busy since the start of the new season of Ellen, too — check out her mall takeover with Britney Spears.)

In one of today’s hottest viral videos, Ellen executes a very simple premise: take the FLOTUS to a CVS and wreak havoc. And it works fantastically well! The two make an impressive comedy team together, with Michelle playing the exasperated straight woman and Ellen being her kooky self.

Key bits include Ellen and Michelle’s repeated use of a megaphone, a Coinstar fiasco, aggressive backscratching, box wine shopping, baby-waking, and an encounter with a self-checkout machine that’s eerily reminiscent of the legendary story of George H.W. Bush encountering a grocery scanner for the first time (legendary in the sense that it isn’t true). My favorite part has to be the surprise reference to a certain Presidential candidate. Which one? You’ll just have to watch and see!
