  • The CW has released a new promo featuring their DC super heroes. The growing list now includes the Flash (who was the subject of a hilarious Honest Trailer earlier this week), Supergirl, the Green Arrow, and the Legends of Tomorrow.

The ad features Oliver Queen, the Green Arrow (Stephen Amell) and Barry Allen, the Flash (Grant Gustin) approaching a tied up figure. This figure turns out to be the CW’s newest addition – Supergirl (Melissa Benoist). They’re then approached by the three mains of CW’s fourth super hero show – Legends of Tomorrow. This includes the Atom (Brandon Routh), Firestorm (Franz Drameh), and White Canary (Caity Lotz).

The heroes must “team up” and defeat the Sphere of Fear, which is a much better name than it’s given credit for. Their sidekicks, including Cisco Ramon (Carlos Valdes) and Felicity Smoak (Emily Bett Rickards) are running the show. Diggle (David Ramsey) is in the wings as well.

But here’s where the promo irks my inner superhero nerd. J’onn J’onzz, in the world of Supergirl referred to as Hank Henshaw (David Harewood), joins the sidekicks. Now, here’s the thing about J’onn J’onzz aka Martian Manhunter – he’s been referred to by Superman himself (in the comics) as the most powerful being on the planet. So why is he the sidekick? Imagine if Superman had telepathy. That’s Martian Manhunter. He’s the intelligence leader of the Justice League in the comics, and yet he continues to receive no credit. All I’m saying is, he should be fighting with the heroes, but that’s also an easier fight.

Gorilla Grodd ends up being the final villain for the group after overloading the Sphere. Could that be a set up for the future of The Flash?
