  • If you’re anything like me, you probably spent a majority of your summer binge-watching Narcos and/or Stranger Things on Netflix.

When Stranger Things was first released in August of 2016, I don’t believe the creators expected it to rise to such popularity in a short amount of time. The internet immediately took a liking to the adorable cast (who recently enamored all of Hollywood at the Emmys), and have since been waiting for Season 2 that is set to be released in the Fall of 2017.

After Season 1, fans were left with many unanswered questions. What exactly is the upside down? Will Barb be coming back?

Well, thanks to this Saturday Night Live sketch, we finally have some answers! I wouldn’t get too excited though… the skit actually focuses on a completely different question: “where is the black kid’s family?”

That’s right. This SNL skit focuses solely on Lucas’ character and points a bit towards the issue of police brutality and the #BlackLivesMatter movement.

Lucas’ parents are played by Kenan Thompson (of course), and Leslie Jones. When the two confront the trio of boys attempting to find Will in the upside down, they want nothing to do with that nonsense.

When Lucas tries to explain that the upside down is like the normal world, but a bit scarier, Jones replies: “Baby, people who look like us already live in the upside down.”

While many have criticized the skit for its underlying racial commentary, others have also been able to find the humor in it all. After all, Lin-Manuel Miranda absolutely killed it as Dustin.
