  • During this tense time facing the country, one teenager attempted to make light of a swearing in ceremony for the U.S. House of Representatives by dabbing (which, to be accurate, was more of a half-dab since his other hand was holding the Bible up).

The son of Representative Roger Marshall (R) from the state of Kansas performed the dab at the moment when Speaker Paul Ryan was swearing in his father. Speaker Paul Ryan seemed visibly irritated by the teen’s dab, asking “You wanna — can you put your hand down?” When the teen continued his pose, growing impatient, the Speaker pushed his arms down. The dabbing son, Cal, who is said to be a fan of archery and football, as well as pranking his father, responded while smilling, “Okay, okay, I’m sorry.”

Not having it? Speaker Paul Ryan looks unamused as he attempts to get the teen to stop doing the dab.

  • Realizing the situation unfolding before him, the Representative came to his son’s aid, telling Speaker Ryan that his son was simply sneezing.

Despite the Speaker’s displeasure at the moment, he attempted to downplay the situation, later tweeting, “Just finished swearing-in photos… Countless cute kids. Still don’t get what dabbing is, though.” His tweet was joined by others tweeting about the incident, including Cal’s friend who remarked that Cal was his hero, and his father, who tweeted to Speaker Ryan that Cal was grounded.

  • We feel bad that the kid’s dad looked embarrassed during what was probably a big moment for him, but what’s with Mr. Ryan’s low threshold for agitation? Doesn’t he have bigger things to worry about at this point in time?
