  • Few musicians have been able to make the kind of headlines Chance the Rapper makes— either for innovation, earning awards in revolutionary ways — and now Chance can add one more credit to his persona — that of generosity. Chance shows that he is as civic minded as he is talented, after donating one million of his own dollars to Chicago public schools.

The one million dollars is to protect the school’s arts program following a series of failed attempts to communicate his anxieties about the current education system to the governor of Chicago. Following the failure to communicate, Chance clearly put his money where his mouth is and bailed out the school system himself. This act was meant to do two things — of course, fund the school, but more importantly, bring attention to how inattentive the Chicago government can be to a certain segment of its population.

And of course, it showed of the generosity of this 23 year old rapping prodigy who reformatted his website to give you more information about the initiative and can be found here . What do you think of this story? Let us know in the comments or on Twitter at @WhatsTrending.
