  • My friends. Sean Spicer is always going to be weird, but this is getting pretty dark.

The White House Press Secretary has never been above lying to the American people, or stretching the truth to the point of absurd hyperbole, but this is really something new. Sean Spicer was saying, and started talking about Hitler. And I know what you’re thinking. Is this going to get way too good? Buckle in, friends! Sean Spicer said “Someone as despicable as Hitler who didn’t even sink to using chemical weapons”. Now. Any reader of history knows very much this is untrue. Even the most casual reader knows this is not true.

I don’t even know what to say here. Hitler very famously used chemical weapons in the concentration camps. Is a lack of knowledge of Hitler why we’re in this mess? Is it why Trump refused to honor Jewish deaths in the Holocaust on Holocaust Remembrance Day? Is it why he can shrug off whenever Trump himself is compared to Hitler? Come on Spicer, your boss reportedly has a stack of Hitler speeches by his bed! Come on!

All that, and don’t use Hitler as a weird justification to do whatever it is you’re doing. America’s entry into WWII was famously careful (some would say too much so), but what’s happened here is Trump saw something on the news, used it to justify a bombing, and now is retroactively  trying to make it seem like it was part of a plan. Sean. Stop trying to pretend you’ve found someone worse than Hitler either. Too much is happening here.

When he was asked to clarify his statement on Hitler, he said  “I think when you come to sarin gas, he was not using the gas on his own people the same way that Assad is doing.” And it’s like. Buddy. All you’re saying is the guy wasn’t literally Hitler. Only one guy was. Sean. This is not as fun a gaffe as when you had your flag pin upside down and junk. Oh, buddy.

What do you think of the story? Will anyone from the Trump administration ever pick up… a book!?!?! Let us know in the comments or on Twitter at @WhatsTrending
