Johnny Depp Surprises Disneyland Goers as Jack Sparrow

Yo ho, yo ho, a— celebrity gazers life for me!? What!?

Johnny Depp, in character as Captain Jack Sparrow, greeted visitors on the popular Pirates of the Caribbean ride — the very ride that inspired the movie that gave birth to Johnny Depp’s character — in order to promote the upcoming fifth Pirates of the Caribbean film. He’s done this before, and it’s always a thrill to see the most famous part of this franchise alive and in the flesh and connecting with his roots. We wish other actors would follow suit too.

Imagine how great all those Frozen rides would be if Josh Gad, draped head to toe in a bulky snowman costume would come out and greet you — or how lovely those Lion King rides would feel if Nathan Lane was paid to sit out in the heat with a small fan and quietly whisper “Pumbaa, not in front of the kids” for all eternity. Personally, I think it would be perfect.
