  • As the investigation into the backdoor (or in Jared Kushner’s case, back channel) dealings with Russia by the Donald Trump administration come to a head, people had no evidence of a smoking gun. And then Donald Trump fired James Comey as the head of the FBI, and openly went on Lester Holt’s Nightly News program and basically said it was because he was investigating him, thus admitting he was attempting to commit obstruction of justice, aka the same crime that Richard Nixon was impeached for way back when (and Bill Clinton for that matter, although Bill Clinton never resigned). Now free of the secrecy his job often requires, Comey was now free to speak about the action of Donald Trump, and thus, those hoping to seem Trump given the boot, were beyond excited to hear his testimony.

What resulted was telling in two ways — both on how Trump just tried to pressure James Comey into dropping his investigation into Michael Flynn. A telling quote from the entire broadcast is Comey making reference to Trump’s Tweet regarding tapes he’s threatening to leak of his conversation, Comey uttered the phrase of the day —

“Lordy, I hope there are tapes.”

This quote implies that once we know the full story— boy oh boy. We will lose our minds. What do you think of the Comey testimony? Let us know in the comments or on Twitter at @WhatsTrending.
