Yes, car horns can be nice.

  • The nicest car horn is here. Every car has its own personality that shines through the sound of its horn. Mine is a bit wimpy but also very annoying, my friends is overly aggressive, and yours probably sounds like a dying hyena. I’ve never heard the “perfect” car horn and no car horn is truly useful in every situation you need a horn for. That’s why YouTuber and creative designer, Mark Rober created a DIY car horn system with three horn choices.

“1.3 million people die in car crashes every year so you want to be able to communicate with other drivers if you want to stay safe. But, if you think about it, cars only have two ways to communicate with each other — you got your turn signal, and your horn… The problem with the horn is that it’s so 1 diminutional. It’s like if your tool is a hammer, it’s really good at one thing but it sucks at everything else,” he said.

Rober took this issue into his own hands and created a “nice” car horn — so nice, he jokes it was “granted Canadian citizenship yesterday,” a train horn and an even nicer horn. The three horns were connected through a bunch of wires to the cigarette burner in the car and set up on his dash. He expressed how important it is to still use the car’s built in horn in case of an emergency but, with these add on horns, you can communicate with other drivers without seeming like a jerk at all times.

What do you guys think? Do cars need more horns? Would you do this DIY? Let us know in the comments or @whatstrending on Twitter!
