  • There has been a trend recently of celebrities making some very serious remarks about violence towards the president and then being shocked at the negative reaction. Kathy Griffin did it with her bloody head art piece, and Johnny Depp did it when saying “When was the last time an actor assassinated a president”. This was in the middle of a long ramble about how Trump needs help, and it was followed up by “I am not an actor”, although come on buddy — yeah you are.

  • The reaction to the comments has developed quickly, with the White House even commenting on the issue. Depp ended up apologizing in a comment to People Magazine saying “It did not come out as intended, and I intended no malice. I was only trying to amuse, not to harm anyone.” Still, a weird thing to say — comparing himself to the man who assassinated Lincoln is probably in terrible taste.
