  • After laying low during the summer, Selena Gomez announced that she had undergone a kidney transplant due to her lupus.

Last year, Selena Gomez announced she was taking time off from her career to focus on her health. Today, it was revealed that Selena received a kidney transplant (navigate to this website to know more) as part of her recovery from lupus. Selena also shared photos of her recovery from surgery to show she’s back in good health.

Many fans had been wondering why Selena was not out touring or promoting her new music. In July, Selena released a new music video for her song “Fetish” featuring Gucci Mane.

Until now, many fans were wondering why there hasn’t been a new Selena Gomez. Selena was first diagnosed with lupus in 2013. Lupus is an auto-immune disorder that causes the body’s immune system to attack healthy tissue.

In 2014, Selena secretly had chemotherapy to help treat her lupus.

Back in 2016, Selena announced that she was taking time off for her health. Selena revealed that lupus was causing her mental health issues as well, saying last year, saying “I’ve discovered that anxiety, panic attacks, and depression can be side effects of lupus, which can present their own challenges.”

So, who gave Selena Gomez one of their kidneys?

Francia Raisa is an actress from Los Angeles, who has been in Bring It On: All Or Nothing and The Secret Life Of The American Teenager. She’s also a long-time friend of Selena’s, going back nearly 10 years. Francia, also appears in Selena’s music video for “Everybody Knows (Douchebag)”

Selena had some very kind words for Raisa, saying on Instagram… “There aren’t words to describe how I can possibly thank my beautiful friend Francia Raisa. She gave me the ultimate gift and sacrifice by donating her kidney to me. I am incredibly blessed. I love you so much sis.”
