  • Jimmy Kimmel — while normally a fun loving prankster — is still a man who gets unbelievably serious about one issue — healthcare. When Jimmy Kimmel’s son was born with a heart condition and needed three heart surgeries to do so, Kimmel opened up how disgusting it was that the GOP was attempting to take away healthcare from the hard working American public that could not afford it. This led to Senator Bill Cassidy from Louisiana to come on his show and promised that he will make sure the GOP replacement for the ACA passes the Jimmy Kimmel test — something the senator has created that he claims must pass the following—

“Would the child born with a congenital heart disease be able to get everything she or he would need in that first year of life … even if they go over a certain amount?”

Well, now Senator Bill Cassidy has proven to be a lying little sleazebag, since his new version of the healthcare bill — the Graham/Cassidy act — covers none of those things. As Kimmel said on his show, it passes the Jimmy Kimmel test, as in your child will get healthcare if his father is Jimmy Kimmel. Yikes!

  • Since the segment aired, Cassidy has been claiming that the bill actually does pass the Kimmel test — and folks, it just doesn’t. So many things are slashed by this bill and it seems like the two senators are putting it forward to ensure a tax cut for the super rich beyond anything else. Cassidy said “I’m sorry he does not understand”, referring to Kimmel, which is an unbelievably dumb cop out that doesn’t actually wrestle with Kimmel’s arguments which seem to check out. The bill is cowardly move to take healthcare away from more Americans and Cassidy should be embarassed he’s put it forward, as Kimmel should be proud he is using his celebrity to ensure healthcare for those who cannot currently afford it.

Remember — you can still call your representatives and demand they vote to keep the ACA intact and push for single player. Most of the world’s developed countries in the world can do it, and ours should to. Make sure to call (202) 224-3121 and voice your concerns about the new bill.
