Why is Burger King Trying to Ban “It” in Russia?

Imagine the scariest thing you can? Is it a killer clown haunting Derry, Maine in a Stephen King novel? Is it that same clown dancing? Or is it the ever terrifying spectre of — of — c-c-c-c-capitalism! Ahhhhhh! That’s what Russian horror audiences have to be scared of as Burger King is trying to get the movie “It” BANNED in Russia — arguing that the site of Pennywise the Dancing Clown will act as accidental advertising towards their rival McDonald’s due to the fact that both Pennywise and Ronald McDonald are of the clownish variety.

Burger King is using the Russian government’s anti monopoly laws to try to get the film banned, and so far it hasn’t been working, with the movie having been in Russian theaters since September 7th. The similarities are hard to make. Pennywise kills children quickly and terrifying with a series of horrific images and slaughter, luring them with his friendly image. Ronald McDonald kills children very slowly using by selling them incredibly unhealthy fast food, luring them with his friendly images. These clowns are COMPLETELY DIFFERENT!
