Atlanta rapper B.o.B. has launched a GoFundMe campaign to prove once and for all that the earth is flat.
In case you didn’t know, B.o.B. believes that the Earth is flat and that science is conspiring to keep that fact secret, and BoB is seeking $200,000 in donations to help him see the curve of the earth once and for all.
The responses to the campaign have been pretty funny. @Wilkiedesk replies, “200K will get you a trip to the International Space Station and back. Book a trip. Better yet, signup for a tour of Mars!” Eric Hamilton sends a link from MIT on how to send a camera into space for only $150, and @Merpo asks, “Are you going to give everyone’s money back when you find out you are so wrong?”
B.o.B. has been fascinated with the idea that the earth is flat for a while.
In January 2016, B.o.B. tweeted several times about the Earth being flat. A few have been deleted since. He has Tweeted, “A lot of people are turned off by the phrase “flat earth” … but there’s no way u can see all the evidence and not know… grow up”, and “I question the international laws that prevent you from exploring Antartica and the North Pole… what’s there to hide?”
A lot of people tried their best to explain to B.o.B. centuries of scientific discovery, but remember the one true scientific rule — if somebody is incorrect about space on the internet, it’s only a matter of time before Neil deGrasse Tyson shows up.
Astrophysicist and host of Cosmos Neil deGrasse Tyson went back and forth with B.o.B. over Twitter… Leading B.o.B. to release a Neil deGrasse Tyson diss-track, called Flatline.
Neil deGrasse Tyson even released a response track called, “Flat to Fact” with Philadelphia rapper The Intellect.
You can’t argue with a conspiracy theorist, because they are convinced they are already correct.
Conspiracy theorists also set unreasonable standards for proof. For example, B.o.B. thinks somebody is cloning and replacing celebrities. In response to followers calling him a liar, B.o.B. responds, “since I’m lying… prove it …” with a meme that reads, “Go ask you favorite celebrity or political figure if they support the shut down of human cloning centers and are in favor of exposing the truth about it to the public… I’ll wait…”
Why do I have to ask celebrities about the cloning centers? Don’t you know Bruno Mars, B.o.B.?
The problem with conspiracy theories like “the earth is flat” is that they prevent you from seeing anything other than the conspiracy.
Even if B.o.B. launches 3 satellites, he’ll just find more “proof” that his theory is correct.
