A doctor on Halloween dressed as Heath Ledger’s version of The Joker for The Dark Knight delivered a baby in full costume in Henry County Medical Center in Paris, Tennessee. Dr. Paul Locus was all set to hand out candy on Halloween dressed as The Dark Knight’s gothic villain when baby Brittany Selpth was born a few days ahead of her planned November fifth due date, when her mother’s water broke on Halloween morning. The doctor was all set to remove his gothic costume when the parents insisted he stay in it. Her father, Justin, explains —
“When we found out he was dressed for Halloween that day, as The Joker. We found it very humorous and a little excited that we would have a baby delivered by The Joker.”
Humorous!? Tell that to the poor souls of Gotham City!
The husband added later — “There my wife is, staring the Joker straight in the eyes while delivering our baby, what a sight! I was holding her leg up, and snapping pictures! I was going to go Facebook Live, but the nurse cut me off!” This feels like convergence of every bad thing our current pop cultural landscape had to offer. Except the part where a baby’s first sight is the face of the Heath Ledger Joker! That is dope!
The doctor contacted them the next day, out of costume (this story’s weird, but not “man who dresses up as The Joker every day” weird) and said “Sorry, I couldn’t make it in last night, glad to see the delivery went well.” And we know it’s not the Joker because the Joker would NEVER say sorry. The doctor then left a card inscribed “Dr. Joker”. Anyway, let’s take a look at the baby whose first sight was the Heath Ledger Joker.
Oh heck yeah. Honey, have we ever told you about the story of your birth? It was on Halloween and the doctor’s costume was “2008 Basic”. If my future child’s doctor even thinks of delivering him as Pennywise, he can back away. It’s Comic-Con fabulous Harley Quinn or nothing!
