  • Shane Dawson was accused of pedophilia by a YouTube channel called Pop Blast. After it went viral, they made cryptic videos claiming that Logan Paul’s manager paid them to make it.

It all started yesterday when a YouTube channel called Pop Blast uploaded a video called “Shane Dawson is a pedophile. here’s the proof.” It featured audio clips from a 2013 episode of Shane Dawson’s podcast “Shane and Friends.” The video, which has now been deleted, cut together snippets that really did not paint Shane in the best light.

It included quotes like — “People have fetishes about everything, and there’s websites on the Internet where they can look at that weird creepy shit and jerk off to it. Okay, fine. Everybody do your thing. So, why is it that when someone googles, like, “naked baby” and jerks off to it, they can get arrested? I don’t understand that.”

But here’s the thing, the video spliced a lot of these clips together without any context. In fact, Shane said multiple times in the podcast how disgusting pedophilia is, but those parts were conveniently cut out.

After the video started getting a lot of attention, Shane addressed it in a video on his channel. You can watch his response below.

  • If you were unaware, this unfortunately is not the first time Shane has seen backlash for jokes he’s made. He previously had a character named “Shanaynay” that many deemed offensive, and has donned blackface on multiple occasions. He, however, has already apologized for those mistakes.

After posting his most recent video, he tweeted: “I grew up. I changed my content. I apologized countless times for my shitty offensive jokes. instead of dragging me down people should use me as an example of a creator who can CHANGE and better themselves and their content. i’m so proud of who i am today.”

  • Many people obviously started taking sides on the matter, and it eventually became a trending Twitter Moment.

  • Many thought this would fizzle out in a couple of days — that is until Pop Blast started uploading weird content to their channel. First, was a video titled “sorry shane” that featured a mother and child. The mother was telling the child, “say ‘we know you’re not a pedophile Shane Dawson.’”

Next, there was a video titled “they made me do it.”

  • Next came “receipts.”

  • And, finally, came “final message.”

  • These videos have all been re-uploaded on other channels. In the final video, you can hear a child’s voice reciting a list of numbers. According to multiple claims, the numbers translate to — “I’m returning the money. It was not worth it. I’m sorry.”

After these videos, Shane tweeted: “OF COURSE. so now the channel that made that awful video is claiming that someone in hollywood “made them make a slander video about shane dawson” to get revenge on me for talking about pedophiles in hollywood. i can’t make this shit up.”

  • But, what were the images exactly? Well, the name on the second video is Jeffrey Oscar Levin — Logan Paul’s manager.

Everyone on Twitter, of course, started freaking out. This is one of the biggest and weirdest conspiracies we’ve ever seen on YouTube. Someone even tweeted: “Lmaoo he couldn’t take the heat from the dead body post so he hired someone to make another story that’ll get heat. Sounds like something he’d do tbh.”

  • Shane addressed this idea saying: “i genuinely think someone was trying to make a conspiracy theory about me in real time. uploading clues, hints, etc. i don’t believe logan’s people had anything to do with it. it seems almost scripted. it’s all very fascinating. gotta love the internet!”
