  • In a move that many have deemed as “wait, what?”— a McDonald’s in California has flipped over their famed golden arches to resemble a “W” in order to celebrate women. Get it? “W” for women. The arches have so far been flipped in Lynwood, California by its owner Patricia Williams in celebration of International Women’s Day — and McDonald’s will be flipping the logo on other restaurants in its chain in order to continue the celebration.

McDonald’s Global Chief Diversity Office, Wendy Lewis, said — “In celebration of women everywhere, and for the first time in our brand history, we flipped our iconic arches for International Women’s Day in honor of the extraordinary accomplishments of women everywhere and especially in our restaurants. From restaurant crew and management to our C-suite of senior leadership, women play invaluable roles at all levels, and together with our independent franchise owners, we’re committed to their success.” Which is all well and good, but here’s hoping it results in more pay too!
