  • Rapper Lil Xan is in some hot water after appearing on Revolt’s Clout 9. For the show, they asked Xan to rank a variety of topics on a scale of 1 to 9.

For example, he gave Kush a 9, Net Neutrality a 1, but the part of the interview that has people talking is when he was presented with the subject of Tupac. He gave Tupac a 2 said he had “boring music.”

Xan probably didn’t expect the firestorm this brought on by music fans. Actor Michael Rapaport said, “2Pac took shits that were more interesting than Lil Xan. Your name is Lil Xan, your name is a sleeping pill. Dumb no talent no skill, non-rapping rappers.” Artist BossLogic said: “Lil Xan said 2pac has boring music ….brah…….dude has ZZzzz tatted on his face.”

And Wacka Flocka Flame saw it fit to ban Lil Xan from Hip-Hop. He elaborated: “Pac help me get thru childhood!!! Shit hurt to see the youth disrespect man that paved the way for all of us literally… I hope nobody overlook my accomplishments when I leave.”

Music writer John Norris, however, is defending Xan. He tweeted: “I don’t see it as a slap in the face. He didn’t say he doesn’t respect Tupac as a musician, poet, thinker, activist and towering cultural figure. All he said was he finds the music boring.”

You know, before we throw Lil Xan under the bus, maybe he’s got the talent the back up his words. Xan’s biggest hit to date is “Betrayed,” which appeared on the Billboard Hot 100 and has 138 million views on Facebook. Xan’s a verified artist on Genius so we actually get to see him explain what some of his lyrics mean. One of his lyrics, titled “hoe got talent, whole squad ran through that shit,” he says, “we’re a bunch of scumbags. Unfortunately, the women that we fuck with are also not very bright and you know, they just get passed around, unfortunately. But that’s what they chose, you know?”

Well, at least he thinks it’s unfortunate.

The point is maybe to get a few more tracks under your belt before you take aim at one of the legends of the genre.
