  • A 25-year-old man named Sidney Bouvier Gilstrap-Portley attended Hillcrest High School in Dallas, Texas under the false pretenses of being a 17-year-old displaced by Hurricane Harvey. Sidney did so in order to play basketball again, after being a collegiate basketball player, and was dating a 14-year-old student at the time. According to the 14-year-old, the pair did not have sex.

Sidney, who was attending the high school under the name Rashun Richardson, was arrested on charges of tampering with government documents. He was discovered after he played a basketball game against his former high school coach, Phillip Randall, at North Mesquite High who approached the school to inform them that, quote: “One of my former players who graduated a time ago is playing for you.” He later told Dallas News — where this entire, insane story can be readin full — “He was a good kid… I never had any problems out of him. That’s why I was shocked when I heard that all this came out because that’s not the kid that I knew.”

Hillcrest High has apologized for the insane oversight, sayin: “We need to make sure we follow better protocols to try and prevent this from happening, but unfortunately, this was almost like a perfect storm. To the parents, I apologize. You send your kid to be safe at school and to participate in extracurricular activities and this should not happen.”
